I have built a multi-module Flex publication - essentially a series of separate SWFs. At the end of each module, the user can click a "continue" button, which uses the Launch Webpage command to open the next publication, using the URL which the client specified for his own server. He now wants to be able to distribute the publications on CD to his clients, so that they can install the material on their own servers. How to create a "generic" URL which will find the next publication? I have tried the <SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR> adding \lesson2.htm etc and various other permutations, but Lesson 1 cannot find Lesson 2, even when in the same folder. Suggestions, please. Many thanks, Adrian

Hi Adrian

Can you use a button or hyperlink with a launch file action that uses a system variable like SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR and \filename.html?

Kind Regards,

Hi

That's exactly what I've tried but it doesn't work. Any other ideas?

Cheers
Adrian

Hi Adrian

I can get a second Flex pub to open using a button in the first Flex pub, but only if the precise pathname of the second Flex pub is entered in the button's launch web page box.

I suspect that Opus Flex is not set up to use a System variable as part of this pathname. You would need to specify the precise pathname on the viewer's computer, which can be challenging, given individual computer differences.

Perhaps, the DW team may have additional ideas/work-a-rounds.

Kind Regards,
Stephen

Never had or used Flex, so cannot comment on that specifically - but to do this in Flash proper (or Swish for that matter), you'd just use "lesson2.htm" as the URL which the link takes you on to ...it will automatically look in the current folder for this file. Does Flex/Opus not work the same way?

Hi Rob

I tried this out, and it worked with the samples I created.

Bravo!

Adrian: give it a try.

Kind Regards,

Thanks Stephen and Rob. Amazing how the simplest solution sometimes works best!

Cheers, Adrian
