Some questions for you.

1. Are you using DocView or Video Object to display the swf file?

2. Do you have QuickTime version 5+ installed?

Here is a quote from the Opus Help Files:

You can play Macromedia Flash movies using the Video object or the DocView object. Flash movies have a SWF file extension and are commonly referred to as swf movies. In order for the end user to be able to see the swf movie they must have QuickTime installed on their computer or they will not see the movie in the video object of your publication. If the swf movie contains sound, the end user must have at least version 5 of QuickTime installed.

Does this help?

If you use the DocView the Flash file is played by the system ActiveX server for the Flash filetype (typically the Internet Explorer plugin), most people will have this even if they think they have never installed it.
Playing a SWF as a movie will work only if QuickTime is installed.

Opus: Opus Pro 9
OS: Win 10/64
... don't forget that opus cannot import flash movies newer than flash 5!

Opus does not import Flash at all - it provides an interface to allow Flash players to interpret the files. The level of Flash file support depends entirely on the installed Flash player (linked in DocView mode) or QuickTime (linked as a video). Make sure you have the latest versions of both.

Hi Duncan,

thanks for that hint. I did not really understand the differences between this two modes in the past. So I have learned something new about opus :-)

Sorry to re-ssurrect this, but could refresh someones mind too.
With a Docview, is it possible to put an object on top of the docview.
With the video object, had created some hotspots and text objects that were displayed on-top (within) the video window.

No. A DocView is a separate window containing another application which has been run from within Opus. It is not possible to layer Opus objects on top of DocViews as they exist in a layer "above" the Opus window itself. The same applies to "On Top" video.
