Has anyone else had a problem playing qtvr's?

I am sometimes getting a page but nothing where the qtvr should be - sometimes it displays a "still" and sometimes elements of a window display.

I created a second page using the docview tool and the same qtvr
No problem at all.

I have the latest version of qt - having read through the problems a while back.

What gives?

Regards

Pete

Pete --

I've created a Quick Time VR file from a group of still images which form a 360 degree photo. The file can be interactively viewed in Quick Time. It's slow to load from a Publication CD-ROM, but once loaded, it works fine.

Are you noticing this problem during Preview from your HD, or in a Published version possibly on a CD-ROM?

Fred,

Hi

Thanks for responding.
No the issue is not to do with the production or playback of the qtvr's.
I have used them very successfully for a few years.
It is to do with Opus's new qtvr tool
If you look at the attached you will see two pages with the same qtvr
Page 1(2) is using the docview tool and this works great as it always did.
Page 1 is using the new QTVR tool in Opus (I assume so that the end user does not have to have qtvr loaded on their machines?)
and it is this that is playing up - I just get either a blank frame, a frame of the qtvr - but no ability to drag the view - or a corrupted windows image where the qtvr should be.

Bit odd.

Regards

Pete

Actually I have had another thought - I have been having a problem for over a year with the icons not displaying correctly see attached.

I put this down to the Matrox Parhelia graphics card that I am using - in fact if I load the latest drivers for it - I cannot get Opus to load at all.

It has a WYSIWYG video output to a monitor
I am going to switch that facility off and see if it corrects the qtvr issue

Will let you know

Pete

No - still the same.

Corrupted icons and the qtvr will not play using the Opus qtvr tool.

Any ideas?

Pete

Well I have to say I am flabbergasted.

I expected DW to be all over this one like a rash!

Not like you guys..............

Things seem to have slipped since I moved to the other side of the world.

Sorry Pete - we are only small and have limited resources!

Regarding your display corruption, I have never been able to replicate it; even using a similar graphics card loaned by Chris Kaley. I can only assume it is something specific to that model of card and it's drivers.

QuickTime is working fine for me. Can you send in any example files that don't work and I'll take a look.

I uninstalled quicktime v 7.1
and reinstalled quicktime v 6 and the problem has gone away

I thought quicktime 7 was now OK?

Any thoughts?

Pete

I've done some more tests and it does seem that 7.1 does not fix all of the issues - it does work once per run but repeat instances fail. So until Apple can sort it out I'm afraid the advice is going to have to be to stick with QuickTime 6 for QTVR support.

Of course, but I'm afraid Apple releases come at a very slow pace - testing an app used by millions takes a lot of time (and obviously isn't foolproof!).

OK Duncan,

Many thanks

I am just happy that I have been able to identify the root of the problem.

I will revert to Quicktime 6 for the moment.

Regards

Pete
