Hello,

I received a question from a client who wants to know if an Opus publication will work across a Novell Network. I am not sure about how a Novell network works but she is interested in a network license.

Can anyone shed some light on this and if an Opus publication will work on such a system.

Hi Again,

Has anybody got any ideas about Netware, does it work like a Citrix server or does it need Netware program specific software?

If Opus could work it would be good, I assume if a Director publication would work there would be no reason why an Opus publication shouldn't work.

I'm afraid I have no knowledge of Novell at all. Assuming it's just a network then I can't see why that would have any bearing on the situation, providing you have the permissions to run software from the server. If it involves remote clients like VNC or Remote Desktop Sharing then that may present performance and display quality issues, but again it shoulfd run.

Primarily Novell Netware is a file server. Not a PC OS
I used it as a file server few years back and the opus publications were running fine from the shared drives. Citrix it is a windows terminal server (One of the best out there) and yes Opus publications will run from Citrix as well. I have tested both configurations in the past without problems.

You shouldn't have any issues to worry you about with Novell..it is just a Server OS that the clients machines use to log into.

The Opus Application runs on the client which will be either Windows XP or equivalent. The only time the Opus application may have any form of issue is the security applied to any folder/Directory that you may have the application referring to on a server somewhere..If everything is local and you have enough local securtiy to access the folders on the client then you should be fine.
