I have a publication which basically consists of pages of buttons, each of which when clicked, launches an instance of Camtasia Player, and an associated AVI. These AVIs run full screen, and are switched (in Opus) to shut down automatically at completion, and return the viewer to the publication.

All well and good, but if the viewer does not complete the video, and switches back to the publication (which itself also runs full screen), there remains an open instance of Camtasia lurking unseen in the background, causing problems if the viewer selects another video to play.

Is there a simple way, on each button press, of checking for and closing any running instances of Camtasia, thus negating this problem?

I'm not a programmer, so be gentle with me!

Thanks

You could trying going here http://www.goblineye.com/ykill.php and using this application. I tried it in a publication and it seemed to work. Launch file action would be:

Launch this file: close
with option/parameter: "start of your .avi filename*"
found in: <SYSTEM_PUBLICATION_DIR> or whereever you put the close.exe file.

Maybe I didn't set it up the way you need but you could certainly play with it to see if it might do what you want.

That's a good idea, I'll try it.

Thanks, BwPatrick

I'll have a look at that, too - thanks.

I had hoped it would be possible to do it from within Opus
