Hello,
I have uploaded an .exe to my client's FTP site. It is a single .exe publication, with Direct X disabled (it is a very simple publication).

He copies it to his hard drive, double-clicks the .exe, but it doesn't run.

It runs for me.

Any ideas why it doesn't run for him?

Thanks,
Mike

Update: Now he's getting the Direct X error message, but I've disabled Direct X.
Thanks,
Mike

If my Opus Pro registries are corrupt, could it cause problems with them running the exe, but not me?

Not very likely.

How old is his PC, and what OS is he running?

Hi, he and one of his employees tested it on their machines and it didn't work. They have pretty up to date machines. Its seems to be something wrong on their end, because I have tested it further on friends/ machines, and it works fine.

I uploaded it to their FTP site and they downloaded it. Do you think it is possible that could have something to do with it? I would think not, but I am grasping at straws here.

Thanks,
Mike

It's possible the exe got corrupted somewhere. I presume you uploaded it as a binary file, and they downloaded it likewise.
You could upload it as a zipped file -- if it downloads and unzips ok the exe will be fine.
Can you get hold of the exe they downloaded, or download it from their site to try it yourself?

cheers
Paul

Hi Paul,
Yeah, I downloaded it from their FTP site last night, and it worked on my machine. Something screwy is going on.
Thanks,
Mike

Can you try this out on your PC and see if it works? It should bring up a menu bar in your upper left hand corner. The links won't work yet; just want to check if it comes up at all.
Thanks,
Mike

Crashed and burned - I'm afraid. Opus troubleshooting screen shows on both Windows 2000 Pro SR4 and XP Home SR2 setups

Sorry

Here's the .imp file.

Could someone check this to see if anything's wrong?

Thanks

Thanks.

I don't understand how it could work for some people but not others.

When you Publish, do you get any Errors?

I had two for missing Resources: Click02.wav and your "Cops" logo. I deleted the logo from your background Image Frame, and used the Resource Manager to Set where my version of Click02.wav was located in the OPUS Sound Effects/clicks subdirectory.

I re-Published without errors and did a Test. It worked fine. If you tried to use a Publication which had Errors when Published, it won't work. Could this be your problem?

Hi Fred, thanks for going to all that effort. I don't get any errors when I publish.
I appreciate you doing all that for me.
Mike
