Hi all

When using the Startup Wizard to create a new publication from a template, I am given the option to scale the publication to fit any screen. Is there any way that I can alter the resolution size of an existing publication (currently set at 800 x 600) so that it will scale to fit any screen? I have probably missed something, but the General tab in Chapter Proprties only seems to give fixed page sizes. Any suggestions gratefully received. :(

Thanks

Chris

Chris --

Go to "Edit -> Publication Properties" then select the "Window" tab. Under "Display Full Screen" there's an option to "Change Display Mode to." This will force the video card to what you select (for your example, 800x600). Newer laptops in particular don't look good in that "low" of a resolution, so the Pub may not meet your expections. Do some testing on different computers to see if this will work in your situtation.

My "standard" Pub now is 1024x768 with a White or Black Surround Colour (See "Options" tab in Pub Properties). I prefer to not try to adjust the Pub to enlarge or compress to fit unknown monitors -- there's usually distortion when you do.

As usual, there's a second option in OPUS. Go to each "Edit ->Chapter Properites" and under the "General" tab, look at the "Resizing" options. If you've got all three options selected, I normally set 1024 as the Max Width. 800 as the Min Width. 768 as the Max Height, and 600 as the Min Height. Remember: This must be done for each Chapter!

I have a similar issue. I have a Creator publication that I'd like to run in a window 1024x700 - the shortness in the second value so it doesn't interfere with a Windows taskbar in the standard position at the bottom. I'd prefer if possible not to go for the 'open full screen' option, I'd rather it was a proper window. And I'd rather not have the pub force people's graphics cards to change the screen resolution - seems a bit cheeky!

On any screen with a resolution of 1024x768 or above, of course, it's fine. Opening it on a screen at 800x600 (which some of my potential users might still have) means the pub window's too big for the screen, though if maximised it then fits. Inevitably there's some loss in sharpness of detail.

Is setting max/min window sizes going to help me? And, given that the taskbar is both moveable and resizable, am I making an unwarranted assumption about most people having a standard one at the bottom? And anyway, just how many people do still run screens at 800x600, cos I might tick them all off!?

Niall.
