Hi All

I keep making a publication and i specify the Icon to use for it , but yet when it finishes ( no errors) it doesn't display the icon , it just shows the bland icon as if the one i choose is missing...Note that the icon i selected shows in the icon selection box and the default choice is grayed out...

Any Ideas

Al

Hi Al

I suspect you are using an icon file with a .ICO file extension? If not, it would be a possible cause.

I would also double-check in the publication dialog settings that you are successfully selecting a substitute icon. It should be visable in the dialog box once chosen by browsing.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Hi Stephen, thanks for replying

The Icon does have a .ico extension and is visiable in the choice of a new icon.......for some reason it won't display and gives me a generic missing icon icon . In the build log for my pucblication it shows this line

C:\DOCUME~1\Allan.DAD\LOCALS~1\Temp\ILM1DC.tmp\IconRep.tmp

It kinda looks suspious as i dont understand what the " IconRep.tmp" does

I have made pubs before and never had a problem replaceing an icon LOL.................

Any ideas welcome
Thanks
Al

Hi Al

Sorry this didn't resolve. I wonder if something in Opus is corrupted leading to this. Lately, my remedy for multiple ills is to reset the registry back to defaults. It often works. Unfortunately, doing so resets the toolbars and other customized options back to defaults, as well. For me this represents little in effort, since I only customize a few items.

Worth a try?

Hi Al

I haven't, since the .ilm etc. are already saved as documents. What will happen is that when you click on "recent files" there won't be any. It's as though you've just installed Opus for the first time.

I haven't found any adverse consequences, except I need to go to options and re-establish my favorite default font, remove the timer in preview mode (a preference), re-do the GUI so the matrix/ruler doesn't show, remove the notes mode at screen bottom. Takes under a minute all together.

If you're in doubt, wait and check what other Forum colleagues say.

Kind Regards,

Now This is weird Stephen,

If you look at the program files listing it shows the Icon BUT on the desktop it shows a missing icon..........why would it show in 1 area and not the other LOL

Hi Al

I'm afraid I'm stumped by the mysterious behavior. You may want to post a sample .imp on the Forum for members to look at.

Kind Regards,

Al --

Sorry I missed your posting/question about the "missing icon" on our Thanksgiving Day, last Thursday. I've found Windows sometimes has a "refresh" issue regarding icons. I've created Pubs with custom icons, and then had them not appear the first time I look at the final products using Windows Explorer, but later, I confirm that they really have been attached.

As long as when you Publish, you select a valid icon, and it appears on the screen before you click OK to start publishing in OPUS, it will be associated with your EXE file. It may take a time or two before Windows displays it, but it's there. It's been a week since your question. Does the icon appear now?
