Hi all - and a happy New Year

I am using Opus Pro XE and I want to import a document containing both text and graphics so that when the document is scrolled through the graphics remain in place re the text. The document is in rtf format but when I import it only the text appears. Is there any way to import text and graphics into a single text/graphics box?

If there is, I know some wizard out there knows how.

Many thanks

Chris

Hi Chris

Does the file have to be rtf? Whenever I want to include a document I convert it to pdf (Cute pdf works a treat). I has also discovered Flash Paper which I also use -this is a great product but costly at nearly £80.

Text objects only support text, not inline images. The best way to achieve what you want is to put multiple text and image items into a frame, initially larger than you need it, then made smaller by holding down Ctrl when you resize. Add a vertical scrollbar to the frame and you can scroll the whole contents.

See the "Scrolling Frames" example on the Resources page for a working example.

Hi Chris,

You can also save a rtf file as html.
With the browser object you can link to the html page with the images in it.
And you also can use everything an internet browser accepts like video, flashobejects, hyperlinks etc.

It's cheaper than using flashpaper  .

Hi Oscar,

Whilst I agree that a Browser Object and a converted HTML page is a viable option - you still have to save both text and graphics. With pdf there is of course just the one file, the display size can be scaled to whatever dimensions you like and you still see the whole document. Cute PDF is free (link) and handles any document that can be printed. FlashPaper is of course not free, but, it is very, very good and also allows conversion of any document to pdf as well as swf.

Cheers!

Hi again all

Many thanks for the ideas. I think thw answer is using multiple text and image items in a frame as I would rather not link to an external file included with the publication.

Best wishes

Chris
