Have asked this some time ago... but haven't had an answer yet... so I'll try again

Is there a limit to the maximum number of items in a listbox?

Theoretically, no - but the more items you add the slower it will get as it has to cope with more information. Adding hundreds of items is a bad design anyway - no user will be able to cope with that much information in one place. I would think about different ways to present the information and to split it into more manageable sections.

Hello Duncan,

Yes I know that it perhaps seems to be a bad idea to put so much information in one listbox, but after your reply I if have now tried it with about 500 entries and it did not seem to slow down.
The data is retrieved from a MySQL web database and consists of different (full) persons names. I have tried to search a single name in the list and that's not difficult at all, despite the fact that the list is long.
I expect my (free-of-charge) software to be finished within one month from now and if you are curious to see it, then please let me know and I will send you the address where to download it...
